So, initially I thought I’d only stick with this for the first couple of episodes just to give it a shot. Boy, was I wrong. This show has a catchy OP the ED isn’t too bad either. The characters are cute and one is highly amusing, at least to me.
We have Ichigo Hoshimiya, our main protagonist in the series. She’s cute, blonde haired, bubbly, and sometimes a bit ditzy. She see’s a concert of an idol who her friend Aoi Kiriya idolizes and wants to attend the Star Academy with her best friend.
Aoi Kiriya, blue hair with a slightly more serious personality but just as fun loving as Ichigo, is an Idol fan. She has books, photos, web links, follows Idols on their pages, you name it and she most likely knows it about any Idol. She’s bound and determined to become a top idol like her absolute favorite Mizuki Kanzaki.
Ran Shibuki is the “Ice Queen” of the series. Aoi and Ichigo seem to quickly melt the ice around her as their happy personalities seem to confuse her but she warms up to them and calls them her friends.
Here we have Mizuki Kanzaki. She’s the girl that inspired Aoi and Ichigo to become Idols. She’s the top of the top not only because of her talents but because of all the hard work she does while not performing for fans or attending classes. She offers Ichigo brief words of encouragement or tidbits of advice in some episodes. Haven’t seen a lot of her but time will tell.
Here we have our wonderfully comedic and over the top instructor, Johnny Bepp. Yes that’s his name. When he first showed up on the screen my initial thought was “Wow, he looks like Johnny Depp.” Then he announced his name and I laughed. I find it funny that Johnny Depp is being parodied in an anime for musical performances based off of an arcade game. His character is a guy who teaches his “honeys” about the world of Idols. He cares about them and wants to help them reach their goals.
Then we have the principal, Orihime Mitsuishi, who was once half of a pair of amazing idols. She also supports the girls behind the scenes. Not much has been gone into about her yet.
Ringo Hoshimiya is Ichigos mother and fully supports her daughter in becoming an idol. Ichigo is hesitant at first because she wants to help with their bento shop but her mom tells her to follow her dreams. I have my thoughts on this but I’m thinking she’s the other have of Orihime’s pair in the Star Academy.
Raichi Hoshimiya is Ichigo’s younger brother and fully supports her in becoming an Idol. He’s a big fan of Aoi as well.
That’s all for now. I’ll be keeping up with this one to see what all happens in it. This show is as secretly addicting as the Precure series and it’s been said to have 50 episodes.
